Pope John XXIII at 7820 White Ash Court, Canal Winchester, OH 43110 US - CAMPUS PLANNING COMMITTEE HARD AT WORK

CAMPUS PLANNING COMMITTEE HARD AT WORK

In the May, 2001 issue of our parish Newsletter, Msgr. Frecker outlined the beginning of the planning process for a parish building (extra copies of that article are available at the portable office in the back of church, if you would like one.) The following is an update on the progress so far. A Campus Planning Committee has been formed and is currently hard at work. This committee is made up of: Larry Felts, Joe Gantner, Jim Gerkin, Steve Lukezich, Laura Miller, Jim Prinzler, Drew Sanderell, Regina Hrytzik (Administrative Assistant), Msgr. Frecker (Pastor), Helmut Naunheimer (Development Director), and Bob Deibel (Building Superintendent). The work of this committee will be organized around three questions: 1) Where are we as a Parish, 2) Where do we want to be, and 3) How can we get there? The committee has begun to look at some statistical information on the parish including: census data, demographics, ministerial involvement, and finance. They have also discussed their perception of the parish at this point, and have reviewed what has happened so far in the formation of the parish. The committee members are now in the process of interviewing about twenty of our parishioners who have been involved as leaders in the various areas of ministry. They will then conduct a second round of personal interviews of randomly selected parishioners. The whole parish will then be invited to participate in a survey. All of this input will help us develop a picture of the hopes and dreams of our parishioners regarding the future development of the parish and how that impacts our facility needs. Finally, we will hold a Town Hall Meeting to communicate the interview and survey results and to seek further feedback from the parish. In connection with the Parish Council, the committee will then draw up a proposed Master Plan, which would include: current and future ministry and facility needs, order of priority, budgetary considerations, specific goals, time lines, and means to reach the goals. Once the Master Plan has been accepted by Parish Council, Msgr. Frecker, and the Diocese, the Campus Planning Committee will have finished its work. At that point, a Building Planning Committee and a Fundraising Planning Committee will be formed to continue the process. It is our hope to begin construction by the fall of 2002. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact one of the members of the Campus Planning Committee listed above.
